Paralympic Athletes Honored at the Kantei

On 22 November 2000, the athletes who had made excellent achievements at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games (medallists, placegetters, those who had improved upon their personal bests, etc.) were honored at the Kantei (Official Residence of the Prime Minister). The 12 gold medallists were handed silver cups; souvenirs were given to the invited athletes.

At the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games (18-29 October), the Japanese team won 13 gold medals, 17 silver medals, and 11 bronze medals.
