| Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori met with President Leo A. Falcam of the Federated States of Micronesia, who was on an official working visit to Japan, at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. The Prime Minister congratulated President Falcam on becoming Chairman of the South Pacific Forum and reiterated Japan's intention to continue its "Pacific frontier diplomacy" by implementing the Miyazaki Initiative announced at the Pacific Island Leaders Meeting 2000 (PALM 2000) held in April 2000 in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture. In regard to bilateral issues, President Falcam thanked the Prime Minister for Japan's assistance so far, and the Prime Minister said that Japan would continue to provide assistance tailored to the FSM's needs.
