ASEAN + 3 Summit and Other Meetings in Singapore

(24-25 November 2000)

Prime Minister Mori visits Singapore to attend the ASEAN + 3 (Japan, China, and the Republic of Korea) Summit (24 November 2000) and to hold other summit meetings.

Having arrived in Singapore with Mrs. Mori on 23 November 2000, the Prime Minister of Japan holds a trilateral meeting with President Kim Dae Jung of the Republic of Korea and Premier of the State Council Zhu Rongji of China on the morning of 24 November. On the afternoon of the same day, he attends the ASEAN + 3 Summit, where the heads of state and government of the member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) and Japan, China, and the Republic of Korea meet.

The first ASEAN + 3 Summit was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1997.

On 25 November, Prime Minister Mori attends the ASEAN + Japan Summit and holds a summit meeting with Prime Minister Datof Seri Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad of Malaysia.

The Prime Minister of Japan and Mrs. Mori return to Japan on 26 November 2000.
