Japan-Lithuania Summit Meeting Friday, September 1, 2006 JAPANESE Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi held a meeting with Mr. Gediminas Kirkilas, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. Prime Minister Koizumi said that on this memorable year, which marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Lithuania, he welcomes the fact that Prime Minister Kirkilas visited Japan for his first visit to Asia a month after taking office. In addition, he said, "It is wonderful that VIPs from Japan and Lithuania are more actively visiting each other's country in recent years." In response, Prime Minister Kirkilas expressed his pleasure at the steady development of their bilateral relations in the past 15 years, as well as his expectations for the further development of their trade and investment relations.
