Campaign against Drug Abuse
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi received a courtesy call from Ms. Aya Matsuura, a singer who is the poster model for the Campaign against Drug Abuse, at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. The relevant ministries and agencies are making collaborative efforts to take measures against drug abuse such as educational activities and control measures under the auspices of the Headquarters for the Promotion of Measures to Prevent Drug Abuse which is headed by the prime minister. Ahead of the upcoming "No, Absolutely No!" publicity street campaign to further promote the prevention of drug abuse, Prime Minister Koizumi said, "Recklessly dabbling in drugs would not only harm one's healthy body but would also inconvenience other people." He conveyed a message to Ms. Matsuura in which he asked the people participating in the campaign to "expand the circle to prevent drug abuse." Ms. Matsuura handed Prime Minister Koizumi informational goods to be used for the Campaign against Drug Abuse such as a framed copy of the poster and a cap.
