Japan-Malaysia Summit Meeting
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi held a meeting with Mr. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. At the meeting, Prime Minister Koizumi asked Prime Minister Abdullah about the preparatory work for the establishment of the Malaysia-Japan International University of Technology (MJIUT). In his response, Prime Minister Abdullah said, "There are still many things to be done, but preparation is under way. The necessary work following the signing of the Japan-Malaysia Economic Partnership Agreement (JMEPA) is also being carried out. I am convinced that the Agreement will allow for the expansion of trade in visible ways from here on." Their talks also covered cooperation in the biotechnological field involving the use of coconut oil. The two leaders thereafter exchanged opinions on bilateral relations.
