1st Meeting of the Council for Comprehensive Financial and Economic Reform
The 1st meeting of the Council for Comprehensive Financial and Economic Reform was held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. The meeting was held for the government and the ruling parties to unify for advancing deliberations toward the formulation of the Basic Policy in close cooperation, given that the government is intensively discussing comprehensive reform of revenue and expenditures and the enhancement of growth and competitiveness at the Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy, while the ruling parties are also energetically deliberating these issues. During his address at the end of the meeting, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said, "In the past several years, we have seen growth through a reduction in expenditures. In light of this point let us continue to improve our economy through comprehensive efforts in the areas of revenue and expenditures."
