Prime Minister Attends the Central Meeting of the Traffic Safety Campaign
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi attended the Central Meeting of the National Spring Traffic Safety Campaign at an elementary school in Tokyo where he participated in a ceremony and traffic safety lesson. At the ceremony, Prime Minister Koizumi called for traffic safety in his address to the children, saying, "If you are involved in a traffic accident, you can no longer stay cheerful, correct? So everyone, let us be careful not to be involved in traffic accidents." Prime Minister Koizumi then handed out traffic safety slogans that he himself had written to the elementary school and the people in the community as a memento. After that, Prime Minister Koizumi participated in the lesson on traffic safety together with Pipo-kun, the mascot of the Metropolitan Police Department. There Prime Minister Koizumi gave advice for pedestrians and the elderly to prevent traffic accidents. As the lesson changed venues to the schoolyard, Prime Minister Koizumi underwent training with children at a makeshift street crossing at the schoolyard, where he walked across the pedestrian crossing with children during the green light.
