2nd Meeting of the Food Education Promotion Council
The 2nd Meeting of the Food Education Promotion Council was held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. At the meeting, the Basic Plan for the Promotion of Food Education was decided. From here on food education will be promoted nationwide in line with this plan. Prefectural and municipal governments too will promote the national food education campaign based on the government's basic plan. Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said, "I have been repeatedly suggesting since I was the Minister of Health and Welfare that dietary habits, physical exercise and rest are the three principles of health. I believe it is very good for children, as well as schools, families and local communities to consider the importance of dietary habits through the national campaign so that people become even healthier."
