In closing the meeting, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said, "Thanks to your efforts Japan has achieved significant progress in intellectual property initiatives. Recently, the international community too has been giving greater recognition to the importance of intellectual property in particular on such occasions as summit meetings. In terms of IT, we have now accomplished our endeavor to become the most advanced nation. We will continue to be the world's top runner in IT. I believe that also in terms of intellectual property we have to be the most advanced nation, and I would appreciate your continuous cooperation in this regard."
