Ministerial Meeting Concerning Measures Against Crime
The Ministerial Meeting Concerning Measures Against Crime was held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. At the meeting, a report was presented on the measures complied by the "Inter-Ministerial Meeting Concerning Measures to Protect Children from Crime." In regard to "measures to protect children from crime," the report first outlines six items under the urgent measures to "ensure the safety of children during their commute to and from school." In closing the meeting, Prime Minister Koizumi said in his address, "Recently, we have been seeing an endless stream of crimes against children. This is exacerbating the people's feelings of insecurity. Against such backdrop, I would like to see coordination be continued among the ministries for the reestablishment of safety and reassurance, as well as for the reestablishment of Japan as the safest country in the world. I would like to ask for your cooperation in this respect."
