Japan-Armenia Summit Meeting
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi held a meeting with Mr. Andranik Margaryan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. Prime Minister Koizumi welcomed Prime Minister Margaryan's first visit to Japan and expressed his appreciation for Armenia's participation in the 2005 World Exposition, Aichi, Japan. Prime Minister Koizumi remarked, "The conclusion of the technical cooperation agreement today holds a significant meaning. I expect our bilateral relations including economic relations to be enhanced." Prime Minister Margaryan expressed his appreciation for the economic cooperation provided by Japan and stated, "I expect further development in our friendly relations with my visit today serving as its foundation." With regards to the United Nations (UN) reform, Prime Minister Margaryan expressed Armenia's support for Japan's bid to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council. The two leaders also agreed to cooperatively work on the issue of the UN reform.
