Prime Minister Attends the Central Meeting of the Traffic Safety Campaign

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi attended the Central Meeting of the National Spring Traffic Safety Campaign at Daiichi Hino Elementary School in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo. This Campaign is held with the goal of widely promoting and enhancing understanding of traffic safety among the people in order to build a society with a safe traffic.
At the ceremony held in the school gymnasium, Prime Minister Koizumi called for traffic safety to the children by saying, "You should be careful not to be involved in any traffic accidents on a daily basis." Receiving an energetic and lively response from the children, Prime Minister Koizumi commented that, "You are all very good children with manners, being able to keep quiet when listening to others." Prime Minister Koizumi then handed traffic safety slogans that he himself had written to representatives of the children and of the elderly. Furthermore, in a traffic safety quiz, he personally wore a suit made of reflective materials. As part of a lecture on traffic safety which took place on the school field, Prime Minister Koizumi participated in a collision experiment with his seatbelt fastened as well as training for crossing streets with the children.
