Inauguration of the Reshuffled Second Koizumi Cabinet
Mr. Hiroyuki Hosoda, who was reappointed as the Chief Cabinet Secretary, announced the list of the Cabinet members at a little after 3 p.m. Following this, each minister held a press conference in the press room at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. In the evening, the attestation ceremony of the Ministers of State was held at the Imperial Palace. Prime Minister Koizumi held a press conference that night, in which he expressed his determination to further promote reforms, saying, "We have now entered the stage of putting the reforms that we have been promoting thus far into effect. This reshuffled administration could be dubbed the 'Postal Privatization Implementation Cabinet' or the 'Reform Implementation Cabinet.'" The first meeting of the new Cabinet took place after the press conference, followed by a commemorative photograph on the staircase of the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
