Japan-Mexico Summit Meeting

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi on his visit to the United Mexican States held a meeting with Mr. Vicente Fox Quesada, the President of Mexico, at the National Palace in Mexico City in the afternoon of September 17 (Japan time: dawn of September 18).
At the meeting, the two leaders signed an Economic Partnership Agreement which facilitates free movement of goods, people, services and capital between Japan and Mexico. Prime Minister Koizumi said, "I hope to develop our economic relations through cooperation not only between the two governments but also the private sectors as well. Signing of this Agreement is an important step forward and how this agreement is put into effect is crucial." After the meeting, Prime Minister Koizumi and President Fox held a joint press conference. At the press conference, Prime Minister Koizumi expressed his enthusiasm by saying, "Taking this conclusion of the Economic Partnership Agreement with Mexico as a successful example, I would like to advance the negotiations with Asian countries as well."
