Japan-Socialist Republic of Viet Nam Summit Meeting Friday, June 4, 2004 Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi held a meeting with Mr. Phan Van Khai, the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. At the meeting, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi shared his view with Prime Minister Khai by saying, "I wish the development of Viet Nam to be realized through acceptance of investment from many Japanese corporations" in light of the Agreement between Japan and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam for the Liberalization, Promotion and Protection of Investment signed by the two countries last year. Prime Minister Khai, in response, expressed his intention to develop a preparatory system by saying, "I would like to improve the investment environment as the Agreement is soon to be enacted." Further, Prime Minister Khai requested for Prime Minister Koizumi to attend the Summit Meeting of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) to be held in Hanoi, Viet Nam in October. Prime Minister Koizumi then expressed his eagerness by saying, "I would definitely want to attend."
