Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi held a meeting with Mr. Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Abdullah emphasized the importance of the role played by the United Nations (UN) concerning the situation in Iraq.

To this, Prime Minister Koizumi said, "I have at numerous times discussed with Mr. George W. Bush, the President of the United States of America, on the involvement of the UN. Japan has also dispatched the Self-Defense Force (SDF) to Iraq upon request by the UN."
