Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi received a courtesy call from the members of the Japan-France Dialogue Forum at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.

The Japan-France Dialogue Forum was established in 1996 as an advisory organ to the leaders of the two countries, to provide a forum where intellectuals of both countries freely discuss ways to strengthen the Japan-France relations and a variety of global-scale problems.

Mr. Ryutaro Hashimoto, former Prime Minister of Japan, attended the meeting of the forum held on April 12 as the chair from the Japanese side and Mr. Alain Juppe, former Prime Minister of the French Republic, as the chair from the French side. Other members of the meeting include intellectuals from business and academic circles of both Japan and France.

This is the seventh meeting of the forum, and the first led by the new members of the advisory organ. Members exchanged opinions on youth exchanges and other issues.
