Prime Minister Attends the Town Meeting
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi attended the "Town Meeting in Tokyo" held in Toshima Ward, Tokyo. Under the theme of "Koizumi Structural Reform and Japan in the World," dialogue took place at the town meeting on how to advance structural reform in the future that will revitalize the Japanese economy. Prime Minister Koizumi stressed his determination to further advance the course of structural reform by saying, "Japanese corporations cannot survive without Koizumi Structural Reform. I am determined to promote this course." Prior to this town meeting, Prime Minister Koizumi visited a rotating sushi restaurant in Tokyo so as to inspect the permeation of information technology (IT) in the private sector and received explanations on a system which instantaneously calculates the bill utilizing the integrated circuits (IC). In response to the explanation, Prime Minister Koizumi commented, "I can see that the structural reform in the private sector is surely advancing."
