At the MeSci, Prime Minister Koizumi toured IT-related displays and demonstrations such as remote medical care of the utilization of IT, entertainment robots and distance learning courses with Asian countries with satellite-based Internet communications. Afterwards, Mr. Mamoru Mouri, the President of the MeSci, guided Prime Minister Koizumi and explained to him about the permanent exhibitions at the museum. At the 19th Meeting of the IT Strategic Headquarters, the "e-Japan Strategy II" was decided, which compiles the second phase of the IT strategy of Japan aiming to realize the world's most advanced IT nation. This strategy, in light of the fact that IT infrastructures have been developed based on the "e-Japan Strategy" formulated in January 2001 as the second phase of the IT strategy, proposes to take leading measures in seven important areas that are closely related to the lives of the people, aiming to realize a "vibrant, safe, impressive and convenient" society with the active use of IT. At the same time, the strategy also points out that there is a need to advance the development of new IT social infrastructures, which is essential for the sophistication of the active use of IT during this second phase.
