Japan Team for World Skills Competition Pays a Courtesy Call on Prime Minister
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi received a courtesy call from the national team for the World Skills Competition at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. The World Skills Competition is held every two years with the goal of promoting vocational training, international exchange and friendly relations among skilled young people. This year thirty-seven countries and regions will participate in the competition, to be held from June 18 in the city of St. Gallen, Switzerland. The 32 representative players from Japan will compete for their skills with other players from participating countries in 29 types of professions, including precision instrument assembly, mechanical engineering drafting CAD, carpentry and landscape gardening. Prime Minister Koizumi encouraged the Japanese representative players by saying, "Please fully demonstrate the results of your training, showing the superb talent and skill of the Japanese people to the world."
