Japan-Thailand Summit Meeting Friday, June 6, 2003 Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi held talks with Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. During the meeting, the leaders discussed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Japan and Thailand, and Prime Minister Thaksin proposed a package of measures such as advancing the talks at the foreign-minister level and expressed his expectations to achieve some form of agreement by the end of this year. In response to this, Prime Minister Koizumi expressed his intention to advance preparations so that negotiations could be initiated at the earliest possible date.
