Prime Minister Meets with President of Botswana Thursday, March 20, 2003 Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi met with President Festus Gontebanye Mogae of the Republic of Botswana at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. President Mogae, visiting Japan since March 16, made addresses at the 3rd World Water Forum held in Kyoto and at the United Nations University in Tokyo. During the meeting, the two leaders confirmed that they would enhance the cooperative relations for development in Africa through the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) and the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD). In addition, Prime Minister Koizumi thanked President Mogae for his attendance at the 3drd World Water Forum and gave high praise for the stable political and economic management achieved in Botswana as an example of success in Africa. For his part, President Mogae expressed his gratitude for Japan's assistance to Botswana and for the contributions that Japan has made to development of the entire Africa.
