Seventeenth Meeting of the IT Strategic Headquarters
The seventeenth meeting of the Strategic Headquarters for the Promotion of an Advanced Information and Telecommunications Network Society (IT Strategic Headquarters) was held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
At the meeting, a report was made on the draft budget for IT-related areas for FY2003 and IT-related bills scheduled to be deliberated in the Diet. A report was also made on the state of deliberations of the "New IT Strategy" under consideration by the Expert Study Committee on Future IT Strategy. Afterwards, discussion took place with the participation of newly appointed experts from the private sector.
At the close of the meeting Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi stated, "it is important that the 'New IT Strategy,' which aims for the goal of making Japan the most advanced IT nation in the world, be easy to understand and capable of gaining popular support. I would like all of the ministries and agencies to cooperate toward the formulation of this new strategy, which will be a guideline for the future." |
