The fifth meeting of the Justice System Reform Promotion Headquarters was held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. At this meeting, there was discussion on bills related to judicial system reform scheduled to be submitted to the current session of the Diet. Among the bills to be submitted are a bill aiming to ensure that first trials be completed within two years in order to speed up the process of trials, as well as a bill to enhance civil execution system such as in the case of auctions, aiming to ensure that rights can be realized promptly after verdicts are rendered. Future preparations will be made for these bills based on the discussions during this day's meeting with a view to prompt submission to the Diet. At the close of the meeting, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi stated, "The justice system is an important issue that must be addressed through an integrated approach by all government ministries and agencies.
