Prime Minister Koizumi delivers a speech at the International Scientists Conference

In the morning Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi visited the Japanese Cemetery in Moscow to offer flowers.
Afterward, the Prime Minister attended the International Scientists Conference held at the Russian Research Center Kurchatov Institute and delivered a speech.
In his speech, the Prime Minister laid out his views on science and technology for the future of mankind, closing with a quote from the great literary figure Tolstoy, "Man can, and must, utilize what was created by the intellect of all mankind, but at the same time he must closely examine, based on his own intellect, what has been created by all mankind." The Prime Minister stated that he was of the firm belief that scientists and researchers of both Japan and Russia have the power and ability to always return to such wisdom, and continue research cooperation that will truly be linked with the welfare of mankind.
After completing his itinerary in Moscow, the Prime Minister departed for his next destination, Khaborovsk. |
