New Year's Press Conference

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi held a New Year's Press Conference at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
At the beginning of the press conference, Prime Minister Koizumi expressed his thoughts, stating, "I believe this year will again be one in which many things happen and many challenges come, but I will exert every effort in carrying out my duties."
After the opening statement, in responding to questions from the press, Prime Minister Koizumi emphasized his resolve to push forward along the path of structural reform. With regard to economic measures, the Prime Minister expressed his intention to work together with the Bank of Japan to curb deflation.
Furthermore, in regard to the issue of North Korea, Prime Minister Koizumi expressed his intention to continue to tenaciously negotiate with North Korea in cooperation with the international community.
