Ministerial Meeting on Economic Measures

The Ministerial Meeting on Economic Measures was held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence and the "Fiscal 2003 Economic Outlook and Basic Stance for Economic and Fiscal Management" was approved.

Included in these were a compilation of (1) fiscal 2002 economic and fiscal management and the Japanese economy, (2) basic stance for economic and fiscal management in fiscal 2003 and (3) economic outlook for fiscal 2003.

Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Koizumi stated, "FY2003 is projected to have real economic growth of approximately 0.6%. During FY2003, I will firmly maintain the basic policy of no growth without reforms and further accelerate action on structural reform without sanctuaries. By doing so, we will continue to carry out economic and fiscal management based on the aim of achieving sustained private demand-led economic growth while restraining deflationary trends, and thereby aim to contribute to the sustained development of the global economy."
