Second Meeting of the Strategic Headquarters for Industrial Revival and Employment Measures Thursday, November 28, 2002 The Second Meeting of the Strategic Headquarters for Industrial Revival and Employment Measures was held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. At the meeting, in addition to holding discussions on the draft outline of the Basic Policy for Corporate and Industrial Revitalization, a decision was taken on measures to strengthen policies for economic rebirth, including strengthening employment measures, enhancing measures for small and medium enterprises and creating employment through steps such as assisting the establishment of companies and business start-ups (cultivation of new industries) as "Items to be studied as Interim Measures for Employment and Small and Medium Enterprises." At the closing of the meeting, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi stated, "In particular, regarding measures to create employment, the other day I invited Mr. Kiyoshi Sasamori, President of the Japanese Trade Union Confederation, and Mr. Hiroshi Okuda, Chairman of the Japan Business Federation and called for government, labor and management to cooperate and work together, and as such this is one point to which I would like you to give thorough consideration."
