Prime Minister Meets with the President
of the Republic of Ghana

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi met with President John Agyekum Kufuor of the Republic of Ghana at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. At the meeting, Prime Minister Koizumi and President Kufuor agreed to cooperate toward the success of the Third Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD III) to be held in Tokyo in October 2003. Furthermore, Prime Minister Koizumi expressed his respect for efforts being made toward democracy in Ghana, and stated that Japan intends to provide whatever assistance it can. Prime Minister Koizumi stressed the importance of education, stating, "Japan was able to develop because it placed priority on education." In the evening, a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Koizumi was held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
