Prime Minister Meets with the Prime Minister of Fiji

Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase serves as the Chairman of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), an international organization for regional cooperation that consists of 14 independent and self-governing Pacific island countries, Australia and New Zealand. The Government of Japan invited Prime Minister Qarase in view of promoting the regional dialogue and cooperation as well as strengthening the dialogue between Japan and the PIF.
At the meeting, the leaders exchanged views on the Third Japan-PIF Summit Meeting (PALM 2003) scheduled to be held in Japan in 2003, cooperative relations between Japan and Pacific Islands region, bilateral relations between Japan and the Republic of Fiji Islands and other issues. |
