Friday, September 6, 2002
The tenth meeting of the Advisory Council to Consider the Modalities of the Three Postal Businesses was held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
At the meeting, Chairman Naoki Tanaka handed Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi a report compiling the results of studies by the Council since its establishment in June of last year. In the report, three managerial forms are put forward as the modalities for the three postal businesses following their reorganization as public corporations, clarifying their respective characteristics and points of concern. Upon receiving the report, Prime Minister Koizumi stated, "I will make efforts to ensure that the contents of this report become known to many people in Japan and that we have broad national debate," and, "Reform of the postal businesses will help to bring about economic structural reform, fiscal structural reform, financial market reform and the reform of special public institutions, and lies at the very heart of structural reform." |
