Budding Reporters from Okinawa Pay Courtesy Call on Prime Minister Friday, July 26, 2002 Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi received a courtesy call at the Prime Minister's Official Residence from about fifty budding reporters. Chosen from among elementary and middle school students in Okinawa Prefecture, the "Okinawan budding reporters" are promoting youth friendship exchange, bonding Okinawa with the mainland through reporting activities in various regions on the mainland. Responding to an address from a representative of the budding reporters, Prime Minister Koizumi stated, "There are various issues in Okinawa, including military bases and others. Let's work together to resolve them" and further added that, "Study is important during summer vacation, but play is also important. Please study a lot and play a lot."
