Drug Abuse Prevention Campaign

Ms. Miki Sakai, the poster character selected for the Drug Abuse Prevention Campaign, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
This year's campaign to increase awareness of the importance to prevent drug abuse among young people and others will be take place on and around June 22 and June 23 with the "June 26 Young Street Corner Campaign" to be conducted around the country under the "No, Absolutely No!" publicity campaign.
Prime Minister Koizumi, who concurrently serves as the head of the Headquarters for the Promotion of Measures to Prevent Drug Abuse, handed Ms. Miki Sakai a message to all of the people who will participate in this campaign. Ms. Sakai gave Prime Minister Koizumi a framed copy of the poster and informational goods to be used in the Drug Abuse Prevention Campaign.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Koizumi was handed a videotape from the Drug Abuse Prevention Center, which is conducting this campaign. The tape contained a video message from Mr. Hidetoshi Nakata, a member of the Japan National Football team playing in the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan, in which Mr. Nakata urges young people not to use drugs. |
