The Second Meeting of the Office for Promotion of Justice System Reform was held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
During the meeting, the Program for Promoting Justice System Reform was decided upon. This Program outlines a blueprint of the measures to be taken by the Government related to justice system reform and explicitly defines the content of such measures.
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi stated, "The Program outlines a concrete schedule for addressing the overall issues that must be resolved in the context of justice system reform. In order to build a justice system that fits the needs of a new age, and close to and trusted by the people, it is essential that this Program be promptly and steadily implemented." The Prime Minister further stressed, "I call upon all of those concerned to make even greater efforts to realize reform as soon as possible in line with this Program."
The Program was adopted at the Cabinet Meeting held following the meeting. The Office will continue to make efforts to realize justice system reform in accordance with the details laid out in the Program. |
