Monday, November 19, 2001
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi attended the 6th Meeting of the Crime Victim Support Forum held in Tokyo.
This Forum provided an opportunity for participants to exchange views on various problems faced by the victims of crime and the measures and activities taken to assist them by police authorities, private-sector groups and concerned organizations, as well as those undertaken in foreign countries. The Forum also aimed to consider modalities for providing future assistance to victims of crime, enhancing mutual cooperation among the concerned parties and defining ways to provide even further assistance to victims of crime.
Prime Minister Koizumi addressed the Forum stating, "we must build a society in which society as a whole provides assistance to the many people who suffer as victims of crime through the loss of irreplaceable family members or who suffer from gratuitous crimes themselves." |
