Prime Minister Meets with Prime Minister of Jordan

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi met with Prime Minister Ali Abul Ragheb of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
During the meeting Prime Minister Koizumi appreciated the role that Jordan has played in the fight against terrorism and stressed the need to strengthen international cooperation to oppose terrorism while explaining that Japan is taking a comprehensive approach, including various diplomatic efforts.
Concerning peace in the Middle East, Prime Minister Ragheb expressed concerns over the worsening situation in Palestine, to which Prime Minister Koizumi responded that he shared the same views as Prime Minister Ragheb regarding the importance of advancing peace in the Middle East. Prime Minister Koizumi also stated that Japan would continue to be actively involved in Middle East peace issues and intends to provide its utmost assistance for the efforts towards peace being undertaken by the concerned countries including Jordan.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Ragheb delivered a personal letter to Prime Minister Koizumi from King Abdullah bin Al-Hussein.
