Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi met with Professor Ryoji Noyori of Nagoya University who was awarded this year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry, and the two talked over lunch together at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
Professor Noyori was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work on the development of catalytic asymmetric synthesis in the field of organic chemistry. He is the tenth Japanese national to win the Nobel Prize following Professor Emeritus Hideki Shirakawa of the University of Tsukuba last year.
Prime Minister Koizumi congratulated Professor Noyori and spent a relaxing time with him. |
