Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi attended the meeting of the Upper House Budget Committee at the Diet.
Concerning the recent terrorist attacks on the United States, Prime Minister Koizumi stated, "I am considering what response Japan will be able to take depending on the military action to be taken by the United States. Although Japan will not be able to provide assistance that constitutes an integral part of the use of force, it is important to consider what kind of assistance we can provide in a manner that will not constitute an integral part of the used of force." At the same meeting, discussions were also held on economic and fiscal issues including employment measures, in addition to the establishment of legislation for national emergencies. |
