At the Meeting it was agreed to accelerate and carry forward the activities of the e-Japan Priority Policy Program and the e-Japan 2002 Program. Agreement was also reached on the guidelines for coordinating the special requests for structural reform in the general budget request for FY2002.

Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi stated, "I view IT as playing a particularly important role as we flesh out our structural reforms. I intend to focus in on priority items and advance in a strategic manner."
