At a meeting of the Committee for the Promotion of Decentralization at the Prime Minister's Official Residence, Committee Chairman Ken Moroi presented Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi with the Committee's final report. The contents of the final report contained requests for the complete implementation of the 1st Decentralization Reform and recommendations toward initiating the 2nd Decentralization Reform. Prime Minister Koizumi stated, "the duration of the establishment of this Committee will expire in July. With a view to further promoting decentralization, we should precipitate the establishment of a new deliberative body, and I would like to proceed earnestly with its preparations." |
