All the members of the Kan Cabinet resigned on August 30, 2011.

At the Cabinet meeting on the same day, Prime Minister Naoto Kan collected the letters of resignation from the Cabinet members and decided on the general resignation of the Cabinet. Afterwards, the Prime Minister issued a statement on the general resignation of the Cabinet.

On September 2, Prime Minister Kan left the Prime Minister's Office as the staff bid him farewell.
