Prime Minister Naoto Kan attended the 7th meeting of the Tax Commission in FY2011 held at the Cabinet Office.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "Although they are different in nature, it is incumbent on the Cabinet to thoroughly address these two issues affecting the people. The earliest possible reconstruction of the disaster-stricken areas is indeed necessary for the revival of Japan and is imperative. At the same time, the response for achieving the complete settlement of the lawsuits over Hepatitis B is also critical. While these are major issues, I sincerely ask this Tax Commission to commence discussions quickly and carry out intensive studies and deliberations led by the Chairman, Mr. Yoshihiko Noda, Minister of Finance."
