Prime Minister Naoto Kan attended the seventh meeting of the Review Meeting on Economic Situations held at the Prime Minister's Office.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "The Japanese economy is in the midst of the process toward restoration and reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake. In a certain sense, I believe that this must be taken as a chance to generate new growth, and that we should robustly proceed in this direction. For this, we must enhance our capabilities to respond to internal and external economic risks. We also need to closely watch the trends of the foreign exchange market. I ask the relevant ministers to implement policy responses with an emphasis on these points."
