Prime Minister Naoto Kan held the fourth meeting of the Council for the Realization of the Revival of the Food, Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishery Industries at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the situation of the agriculture, forestry, and fishery industries after the Great East Japan Earthquake and the restoration and reconstruction measures.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "The agriculture, forestry, and fishery industries in mainly the Tohoku region were heavily hit by the earthquake. With your guidance, we are making efforts to restore these sectors in this region, and furthermore, to develop these sectors for the future.
Today, as we meet for the first time since the earthquake, I look forward to holding discussions in order to formulate a new vision, which will span from the restoration and reconstruction of the agriculture, forestry, and fishery industries to the future."
