On May 24 (local time), Prime Minister Naoto Kan arrived in Paris in order to attend the G8 Deauville Summit to be held in Deauville, the French Republic.
Having arrived at Charles de Gaulle International Airport, Prime Minister Kan attended a welcome ceremony held at Les Invalides in the morning of May 25 (local time), after which he held talks with Mr. Francois Fillon, Prime Minster of the French Republic, at Hôtel Matignon (the Prime Minister's Office). Prime Minister Kan then attended a working lunch at Palais de l'Élysée (the Presidential Palace) hosted by Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy, President of the French Republic.
In the evening, Prime Minister Kan attended the 50th Anniversary Meeting of the OECD Ministerial Council, and delivered a speech.
Later, Prime Minister Kan held talks with Dr. Orbán Viktor, Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary, which currently chairs the European Union (EU).
