Prime Minister Naoto Kan attended a Ministerial Meeting of the Team in Charge of Responding to the Economic Impact caused by the Nuclear Power Station Incident held at the Prime Minister's Office.
Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "The implementation of the provisional payment is already into its first round, in addition to which it was decided that the Government would request Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) to promptly implement the provisional payment for those in the agricultural, forestry, and fishery industries.
Also, concerning the compensation scheme, it was approved that the Government would carefully consider the matter not to bail out TEPCO but from the perspective of ensuring that relief is provided to those afflicted by the disaster at the earliest date possible."
