Prime Minister Naoto Kan held talks with Mr. Boris Tadic, President of the Republic of Serbia, at the Prime Minister's Office.

A signing ceremony was held for the joint statement on the enhancement of bilateral relations, among other matters, including the intention of the Government of Japan to extend its first ODA loan for the Flue Gas Desulphurization System Construction Project for Thermal Power Plant Nikola Tesla, with a view to ensuring a stable power supply in Serbia, and the exemption of visa requirements for Serbian passport holders, aimed at increasing people-to-people exchanges. This was followed by a joint press announcement.
