Prime Minister Naoto Kan held the 15th meeting of the Government Revitalization Unit at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the progress of reflecting the evaluation results of the review of government programs in the draft budget for FY2011 and other matters.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "I believe government revitalization will continue to be an issue of major importance and will require even more full-fledged efforts from now on.
I understand that the major challenge going forward is the review of government regulations. Among regulations, there are of course some that are necessary, but there are also areas where regulation creates many posts for amakudari (golden parachuting). I would like the members of the Government Revitalization Unit to scrutinize these points with sharp and unforgiving eyes."
