Task Force Team for a Society Inclusive of Individuals
Prime Minister Naoto Kan attended the first meeting of the Task Force Team for a Society Inclusive of Individuals at the Prime Minister's Office.
The Task Force Team was organized with the purpose of establishing a strategy to promote social inclusion, including the strengthening of the safety net, so as to address emerging social risks such as issues concerning isolated individuals, a disconnected society, and single family households. During the meeting, discussions took place on issues to be tackled in order to realize a society inclusive of individuals.
In his address, Prime Minister Kan said, "Receiving a report on some
of the actual conditions today, I reaffirmed how difficult the situation has
become.
I ask you to examine matters such as potential cost. Given the gravity
of the issues, things that need to be done must be done, no matter how costly
they may be, in a prioritized manner. I myself will tackle issues with this
attitude, which I expect you to develop as well. On that premise, I want you
to propose promptly concrete measures that can be implemented immediately. For
those issues that will require some time before being addressed, I want you
to analyze further so as to come up with measures adequately addressing them,
through fact-finding studies, among other activities."
